Wed March 2nd Meeting: Game Demos Done Right w/ Chris Zukowski
Last month’s meeting was, let’s just say…it went off the rails a bit! 😀 After an impromptu presentation by Chris Zukowski wielding a gold microphone we went into an extended Global Game Jam play session, ending with complete nonsense as we played Yonder Quail for about 45m. It was SO fun so I hope you come join us again this month!
This Month: Zukalous Returns!
Oh btw did you know that the Game Developers Conference is coming up? Chris Zukowski will be using us as guinea pigs for his latest GDC talk and we guarantee you will love it! In February Chris jumped in with his Indie Soapbox, and this will be a longer (25m or so) talk with a Q&A afterward. Here is the blurb from his GDC page :
Your demo is a critical marketing asset that is as important as your trailer and your press kit. You must create a demo that gets players excited, makes them want to share it with their friends, but doesn’t give away so much that they don’t need to buy your game.
Chris Zukowski will review real-world examples and feedback from industry veterans on how you should design your demo to increase wishlists, boost your following on social media, and get covered by streamers.
We hope you’ll join us again: Wed March 2nd at 7pm. All are welcome in our Discord server. See you then!
Community Spotlight…Spotlight!
We have a lot of super talented people doing really amazing things, but I want to give a special shout out to Early Coffee Games, who are currently featured on the home page of Global Game Jam’s website! They found something special with their jam game Hermit: An Underwater Tale and are continuing to build it out. One of the hard working developers is here in Tucson and is helping develop this gorgeous and fun looking game. Can’t wait to play it *hint hint* 😛 !
