The Global Game Jam turned out to be a great event this year, and I am glad to see so many people had a great time. We had a total of <a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/jam-sites\/ggj-tucson\">34 people sign up, and 11 games were made<\/a>. While I organized the jam, I loved\u00a0the organic nature of\u00a0how\u00a0things Just Happened at the event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thomas and Luca: thank you for general volunteering!<\/li>\n<li>Z: Thank you very much for donating so much food.<\/li>\n<li>Drew and Jeremy: I really appreciate your help in getting the word out.<\/li>\n<li>Thank you to everyone who donated to offset the food costs.<\/li>\n<li>Thank you to everyone for being so thoughtful in cleaning the space when we were done.<\/li>\n<li>Of course thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/startuptucson.org\/colab\/\">CoLab Workspace\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0not only for the space, but also for all the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yellowbrickcoffee.com\">Yellow Brick coffee<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"#GGJ17 Tucson! I am hoping that we can keep this energy going through the year, and hope to have an even bigger jam next year! Some have also asked: when&#8217;s the next one? Well, <a href=\"https:\/\/tgdstaging.enemyhideout.com\/calendar\/#action=calp_agenda&amp;calp_item_id=12\">come by our next meeting<\/a> and we&#8217;ll talk about it. The game uses pitch detection, and you must sing to shoot.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"#GGJ17 Echo Loco\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jbFYnGXhQZY?feature=oembed&#038;wmode=opaque\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/freakuent-kombat\">Freakuent Kombat<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>A game made in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yoyogames.com\/gamemaker?cr_exp=s&amp;cr_cid=163987731\">GameMaker<\/a> and a lot of cool custom UI systems, this 2-person game is a one-shot fighter!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/freakuent-kombat\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-312\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/ggj_freakuentkombat-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"767\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/harmony\">Harmony<\/a><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/harmony\">Harmony<\/a> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\">Unity<\/a> game where you must tap to attempt to replicate the waves motion. The game also attempts to communicate its UI and theme without textual explanation.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/harmony\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-314\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/harmony_splats-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"767\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/love-note\">Love Note<\/a><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/love-note\">Love Note<\/a> is written using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pygame.org\/download.shtml\">pyGame<\/a>\u00a0and you play a paper plane and you must avoid balloons&#8230;or you die!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/love-note\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-315\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/love_note.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1136\" height=\"710\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/mermurder\">MerMurder<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The first <a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\">Unity<\/a> game from Z and Zander (that could be a great game studio name btw!) you play a vengeful mermaid who hates sailors. Assets modeled and rigged in 3dsmax and mudbox!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/mermurder\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-316 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/murmurderscreenshot-1.png\" width=\"767\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/un-dj-ulation\">un-DJ-ulation<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A rhythm\/music game, another first <a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\">Unity<\/a> game, this was a solid concept put together and has some really cool ideas!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/un-dj-ulation\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-309\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/un-dj-ulation-300x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/wave-rave-1\">Wave Rave<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love the 90s rave feel of this game. The mechanics are cool as well: you bounce on the waves attempting to keep the rhythm going.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalgamejam.org\/2017\/games\/wave-rave-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-318\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wave_rave_gameplay2_25.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"767\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>The Theme<\/h4>\n<p>Were you able to guess the theme this year from the games?
