Ludum Dare 45, Tucson Comic-Con, and Augmented Reality!
Last month’s meeting with Blake was chock full of cool stuff! He showed us some great tips on rigging and animating characters in Unity. By setting up bones in Maya and animating in Unity he showed how you can get some great results and preview the work in-game, instead of going back and forth between the engine and Maya.
Next Monthly Meeting: Augmented Reality with Dan Miller!
Next month’s virtual speaker is direct from Unity themselves! Dan Miller, who is a Virtual and Augmented Reality evangelist at Unity will be speaking to the group about AR in games. Come by and learn about how others are using AR to develop innovative new gaming ideas! More info will be posted soon, but as usual the meeting will be the first thursday of the month at Tucson Games & Gadgets.
Ludum Dare 45 at the University of Arizona
Our last game jam at the U of A went very well, and we are excited to host Ludum Dare 45! We are again partnering with the UA GameDev group to put on this event, and it’ll be an all-weekend long experience. That’s right, we’ve got the 8th floor of the comp-sci building to ourselves! Mark the weekend of October 4th-October 6th on your calendars and come make a game over the weekend! For more info click here.
Ludum Dare: Extended!
But that’s not all! We are going to have an extended jam! After the initial Ludum Dare completes, we are going to meet up the next weekend and have a playtest and prizes ceremony! LD participants will have the post-jam week to polish and ‘juice up’ their games in whatever fashion they see fit. We will meet up (possibly at the U of A) and host a playtest and prizes ceremony, including CASH PRIZES to the winners! That’s right! Cash!
Tucson Comic-Con Booth
Tucson Comic-Con is Nov 1-3rd! TGD will be at the TCC in the gaming lounge. We will have our kiosks set up, and we will also be selling merch! Last year’s TCC was a great success all around. We had HUNDREDS of people play our games. If you’re a TGD member interested in selling merch or including your game in our kiosks, please join our Discord and let us know!
So many upcoming events (yes, we have even more stuff unannounced!). We hope to see you at one of them!
