- When: Nov 3, 2021 from 7pm to 9pm MST
- Where: online via Discord and in-person at 44 N Stone Ave with FORGE
- Speaker: Jean Leggett on game dev careers
The November TGD meeting is next week! Join us not only for the usual review of our members’ awesome work over the past month, but also to hear from this month’s speaker:
Jean Leggett: game dev coach!
Jean has more than a decade of experience helping people with their game development projects, studios, and careers. She’s run workshops and delivered speeches on those topics, and is joining us this month to give her talk on game dev careers. I worked with her on my recent job hunt, and immediately got so much more response from recruiters than I ever managed on my own that I landed a job offer before we could even finish her regimen! She’s graciously agreed to put the rest of my time toward sharing this talk with TGD. If you want to grow a career in game dev, then you won’t want to miss this!
Jean Leggett is the CEO and co-founder of One More Story Games, a games & edtech startup helping non-coding storytellers as young as 8 create and publish narrative games. A Jean of All Trades, she is a certified coach, stand-up comedian, international speaker, and professor of narrative design. She’s the lead writer on a game adaptation of #1 NYT bestselling author Charlaine Harris’ Lily Bard mystery series about a sexual trauma survivor coping with PTSD. Since 2018, Jean has coached 450+ game developers in leadership and career growth.

To catch this meeting and Jean’s talk, you can join online via the #General voice channel in our Discord server as usual. Additionally, for those interested in meeting up in-person, we’ll also have a meeting space provided by:
FORGE: our new host!
FORGE is a new unit of UA on a mission to serve Tucson’s startup scene. Aleshia Howell, Program Coordinator for FORGE, contacted Chris and me in September as part of their outreach efforts, and offered us free use of part of their awesome new office at the Roy Place Building!
Their new space is huge and provides a lot of nice facilities for startups to use: office/work space, labs, photography studios for marketing, etc. If you’re interested in starting or growing e.g. a game studio, you’ll want to check FORGE out! Aleshia will provide more information at the meeting as well.
The Roy Place Building is at 44 N Stone Ave. If you’re driving then there may be free parking available on the street, or you can find several paid parking lots nearby. The Rincon Classroom where we’ll meet is up on the second floor. To get to it, go to the entrance on the north side of the building and use the elevator just inside. Look for the cactus controller sign and Tucson Game Developers banner.
COVID-19 policy: following the latest CDC guidelines for Pima county, masks will be required and vaccination is highly recommended for in-person attendees. Please attend online if you’re unable to follow these guidelines with us.
Whether you join in at the new venue or online, I look forward to seeing you there!
